ABSTRACT: This study investigates the role of vocational education in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on how vocational training can contribute to sustainable economic, social, and environmental development. The objectives were to (1) assess the current contributions of vocational education to the SDGs, (2) identify gaps and challenges in aligning vocational training with SDGs, and (3) propose strategies to enhance the role of vocational education in sustainable development. A survey design was chosen to collect data from educators, students, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, ensuring a holistic perspective on the intersection of vocational education and sustainable development. The sample size included 250 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure the inclusion of individuals with relevant expertise and experience. The case study focused on Delta State, Nigeria, known for its industrial activities and educational initiatives. Findings indicated that vocational education contributed significantly to SDGs related to decent work, economic growth, and industry innovation, but there were gaps in environmental sustainability and gender equality. Recommendations included integrating sustainability principles into vocational curricula, fostering industry partnerships to support green skills development, and implementing policies that promote inclusive and equitable access to vocational education.
